It’s Singapore – proud host of 20th World Orchid Conference (WOC), the biggest international event of the orchid industry. This most significant orchid event which is held every three years, includes the Orchid Show, Orchid Conference and Orchid MarketPlace.
A modern horticultural and botanical project, the Garden by the Bay shall open for a preview the Flower Dome Conservatory to the 20th World Orchid Conference “early-bird” participants. Scheduled to officially open in June 2012, the 1.2-hectare Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay shall display the different climates of the world such as sub-tropical and semi-arid regions of South Africa, Italy and Spain and the cool-dry Mediterranean climate.
Wide Array of Flower at World Orchid Conference
The conference shall feature a modern scientific content-rich programme with a 12k-square meter area for the Orchid Show and a MarketPlace nearby. Expect to see the widest array of flowers – new and old orchids alike from all over the world; from the typical orchid to the contemporary exotic hybrids which are all uniquely lovely and attractive.
Since World Orchid Conferences are held in different cities each time since 1954, it is an arduous and long preparation for local orchid groups and their passionate supporters to stage the conference. The American Orchid Society and Royal Horticultural Society established the World Orchid Conference Trust to take the charge for the conference series. World Orchid Conference was held in Miami Florida in 2008 and in South Africa in 2014.
